Safety shoes now in trendy designs
A new range of lightweight safety footwear with the look and feel of standard, fashionable trainers and boots, is now available.
The range of shoes and boots are designed to appeal to workers of all ages and genders as well as to health and safety professionals. The footwear is metal-free and antistatic and is available in six designs, all with protective fibreglass reinforced toecaps, flexible composite midsoles and moisture-wicked Airtex linings.
RS Components, the trading brand of Electrocomponents, has partnered with Himalayan Workwear of Leicester, UK, to offer the #GOwork range of lightweight safety footwear in a variety of sizes and styles.
- #GOwork FlyKnit is a selection of lightweight composite safety trainers, with breathable fly knit fabric uppers. The two-dimensional (2D) non-slip polyurethane (PU) soles are heat resistant up to 200°, and weigh just 510 g.
- #GOwork Urban are oil and fuel resistant ankle boots that feature water repellent waxy Nubuck leather uppers and non-slip rubber-phylon soles, and are heat resistant up to 300°C and weigh 560 g. The vintage boot range offers similar specifications with a higher-topped, more casual styling.
- #GOwork Electro series offers trainer-style shoes with ultraviolet stabilised breathable mesh uppers, 200°C heat resistant 2D non-slip PU soles, with energy absorbing heels and a weight of 520 g.
- #GOwork Storm safety boots have full-grain waterproof leather uppers and a 300°C heat resistant multi-density all-terrain outsole, while StormHi 8” versions add extra ankle support. The boots weigh 630g.
- #GOwork Bounce safety trainers feature a memory foam heel insert known as Ultimate Energy Return, which is designed to absorb shocks that might otherwise impact upon the heels, legs and lower back. The uppers are made from a breathable heavy-duty fabric, the multi-density soles are 300°C heat resistant, and the shoes weigh 525g.
The safety shoes are available in an array of colours, including brown, tan, grey, honey, navy black, red, blue, lime, yellow and white options. They are available from RS Components SA for delivery in South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa.
